Tai chi is a traditional Chinese exercise which has a wide range of clinically proven benefits including building strength, flexibility, balance and reducing stress. It is low impact, and can therefore be enjoyed by a variety of age groups and ability levels.
The holidays are coming up quickly, and to celebrate we have some special classes with great relaxation this month! Most importantly, we will be featuring a 90-minute class next Saturday to learn our long form, and a special post-holiday class the day after Thanksgiving at 9am. I hope you can join me for these two great sessions!
Also, I will be taking a business trip out of state next week, so class will be cancelled next Thursday.
Here is the updated class schedule for November:
- No Class next Thurs. the 16th – Jon will be out of town.
- Extra-Long Class Sat. the 18th – We will have an 90 minute class on Saturday 11/18 (8:00-9:30am), focusing on the whole first section of our tai chi form. Come a beginner, leave an expert!
- No Class Thurs. the 23rd – Happy Thanksgiving!
- Special “De-Stress” Class Fri. the 24th at 9am – Come the day after Thanksgiving at 9am for an hour of post-holiday de-stressing, including breathing exercises and meditation! This class is open to monthly members, and non-members are only $10.
- Regular class Sat. the 25th at 8am
I’m proud to announce that I will be offering new tai chi classes close to home — that is for me, Oconomowoc — starting on October 5th!
Parker’s Place Fitness has been a community staple for over 13 years, and are passionate about total health. This is their first foray into hosting a restorative practice like tai chi at their club, and I’m excited to be a part of it. They have a beautiful aerobics gym that we’ll be using for our classes, and when the weather is nice outside this fall, we may head out to their back lawn to train.
The classes will be a mixture of relaxation exercises, stretching, tai chi long forms, with a short meditation at the end. If students are interested, we may eventually introduce weapons like the tai chi sword and fan.
Class times will be Thursdays at 5pm and Saturdays at 8am. Cost is $50 per month for an individual, and $80 per month for a couple or family to attend.
If you are interested, head over to the Class Schedule page to learn more and sign up.
I hope to see you at class!
